Your Alto Flute with Sonaré Turbo-drive!
Alto flutes are known for having a round, somewhat
husky, quiet sound. Not any more! The Powell headjoint
breaks new ground in the rarefied world of alto headjoints,
and puts the instrument in turbo-drive. The combination
of a high quality alto body with the Powell headjoint
produces an alto that sounds more like an extension
of the C flute rather than "an alto". You
will find this combination free blowing, flexible,
and with strong projection.
Verne Powell made his first alto flute
in 1930 for the Curtis Institute. Today's Sonaré
alto is built on more than 75 years of knowledge.
Every Sonaré alto flute
headjoint is designed by Powell, made by Powell, and

The Sonare
SP-500 Piccolo
We start with the innovative, USA-made, Odyssey®
polymer to provide unparalleled resonance.
Next, we machine the polymer bodies with the Powell
Scale at Powell’s Massachusetts workshop to
provide impeccable intonation.
The machined body is then sent to China, where our
top notch partner assembles the quality, silver plated
mechanism to rigorous specifications.
Back in the USA, each headjoint is painstakingly hand-cut
at the Powell factory to offer superb projection and
control.
Finally, we marry the headjoint to the body, and a
Powell-trained technician play tests each piccolo
to strict quality standards.
The result is a quality crafted piccolo that produces
a beautiful, sonorous sound - at a great price!

warm sound of a 24 ¾” scale 2-humbucker
guitar that feels and plays like a typical BLADE guitar.

As
you may know, the “classic humbucker”
sound is not only defined by the pickup. Most of the
instruments which made that sound famous in the 50s/60s,
were based on a mahogany body, set-neck construction
and 24 ¾ scale design. The new DURANGO DELUXE
DD-2 was created for musicians looking for that classic
humbucker guitar that offers the accuracy, playability
and versatility of a modern instrument. It features
a position-determined-profile neck that gives the
player a uniform feeling over the entire neck. The
2 LHN-5 humbuckers combined to the 24 ¾ scale
will produce that typical warm and full humbucker
sound. Whether you play Jazz, Blues or Rock music,
the VSC-3 (Variable Spectrum Control) will provide
enough flexibility in order to have various sounds
immediately available. |

The
leadpipe is designed and hand made by Cliff Blackburn.
Regarded by many as one of the top trumpet makers
in the world, Cliff Blackburn meticulously handcrafts
each lead pipe to suit the body of each Sonare trumpet.
The result is a free blowing trumpet that is ideal
for playing classical or jazz. Intonation is precise
and the flexibility is easy.
Another unique feature is the Microlok Valve System.
This valve design eliminates the need for valve alignment
jobs. Co-invented by Cliff Blackburn and Steven Wasser
of Powell Flutes, this revolutionary advancement in
valve manufacturing sets the piston into its perfect
radial and vertical alignment position. A setscrew
is then tightened to lock the adjustable valve guide
and secures the Monel piston into place. While the
adjustment is permanent, the Microlok system allows
for the alignment to be reset at any time by a trained
technician without soldering.
Cryogenic Treatment is another special feature that
is sought after by many professional trumpet players.
The deep freeze process relieves stress in the metal
that normally occurs during the manufacturing of the
trumpet. The player will benefit from a wider spectrum
of tonal colors and an enhance response, especially
in the high register. Only Sonare offers this cryogenic
treatment as a standard feature on every trumpet.
The full tone and projection of the Sonare trumpet
are largely due to the one-piece bell made by Sonare¹s
German partner. Each bell is hand hammered into shape.
All Sonare trumpets are then play tested before they
leave the factory in Germany. Upon arrival in the
USA, they are re-tested again by an experienced Blackburn
technician to ensure that each trumpet meets the strict
quality control standards. The body of the trumpet
is made in Germany and the leadpipe is made in the
United States. |
